Ciara Floyd was beautiful little girl that was full of life. It was horrible that her life ended so young, and with no help. We need to keep this justice system working for these children. Please look at the innocent faces of these children, and see that there is NOTHING that they did to deserve THIS type of ending to their precious lives. We miss you C...... Close

I am a child welfare worker / Kristy Keehler I am a child welfare worker (for the past 5 years), and know that families sometimes need help with situations and parenting skills. But I also see that there are times, that children who have been in the system for a while, are sometimes no better off, than they were before being removed from their home.Close

DSS or whatever initials they go by are doing a great injustice to the children they have sworn to "protect". I speak from experience having been one of those children. The whole system needs to be looked into and revamped NOW before more children are lost and victimized! Close
The only way to create change is to bring it to the public's attention. / Terry Turner Read >>
The only way to create change is to bring it to the public's attention. / Terry Turner I only opened by own office 9 months ago and have concentrated on family law. I have been confounded with how many cases I have become aware of in my state where children have literally been stolen from their families by CPS. My first case involved 2 young children who had been taken from the mother after receiving a report filed by CPS stating that there were no factors justifying removal of the children. During this investigation, the children had remained with the mother. It was only after the report came out that a caseworker appeared out of the blue and removed the children. CPS filed a dependency and was ready to file a termination when my office was hired by the grandmother to stop this injustice. The children were returned only after we brought this case to the attention of the regional director of CPS. In another case the State is trying to terminate 2 little twins from their mother after she has spent 2 years doing everything the State required of her, and has always tested negative for substance abuse after her children were taken. The children were placed in a foster home that wanted to only adopt, according to the primary visitation supervisor, and the foster mother was assured by the case worker that these children would be adoptable. The more the mother does to prove she is capable and ready for her children to return, the more obstacles the State has put in the mother's path parents' path to prevent reunification (changing places of visitation from parks, movies, and other activities of mother's choice to a small, confined room, firing long time supervisor because she was "too close to the case", etc.) These latest restrictions occurred only in the past 1.5 months and only after the mother had submitted an evaluation by a highly qualified psychologist stating that she was entirely cabable of having her children returned home. These are only 2 of 4 cases I have been handling and I am aware of many more. Sadly, while these children are supposed to be placed with family members if at all possible, I am aware of many grandparents who have united in the Tri-Cities area of Washington because they are being denied the placement of their grandchildren. All of these homes are state approved for foster placement. These circumstances are appalling. The only way to create change is to bring it to the public's attention. It is about the children!Close

I spent years working for DFS/CPS agencies / Victoria Hammond
I spent years working for DFS/CPS agencies before the federal "Pass Through" monies made it too profitable to states to provide in-home services. I am now a counselor, and the horrors I have seen CPS agencies commit, are beyond insanity. When I worked in an agency 20 years ago, and a homeless family showed up in their car, we put them in a motel, provided food, employment counseling and helped them get on their feet. Last year, in this small rural county, some folks who were evicted, although they had, in fact paid up the rent prior to the court date, were met by CPS workers as they left the court, and told that when the sheriff came to evict them, they would be there to pick up the children, "as there are good families who can take care of these kids" Thanks to my supervisor, by the end of the day all six children were safe in friends' homes, and the parents were sheltered at another home. The next day we arranged a HUD housing place for them, (he worked), and the kids were safe with their parents again.I can tell you another 25 tales vastly worse; the boy killed by his foster father, the kids placed by a druggie relative, snatched without the mother knowing, and dumped off in another county CPS agency. It took three years to get those kids back. Please do something to expose the travesties of the present system. Close

after about two years, I couldn't do it anymore / Shannon Behric (Ex socila worker )
I have worked in the Social Services system and I am sad to say that after about two years, I couldn't do it anymore. Too many times, I had to witness good parents that were really trying their best to get by in an economic crisis get bullied by a tyranical system. I saw a lot of children ripped out of good homes and a lot of children left in terrible environments. I cried myself to sleep many times because I felt powerless to stop this from happening. Let's face it- Our Social Services System SUCKS!! It needs to be changed immediately. Children are being abused and even killed because it seems that anyone can become a foster parent now days. What are we doing to ensure that children will be safe in these homes that they are abruptly thrown into? More needs to be done to screen these potential foster parents and more services need to be available to help the real parents of these children instead of just taking them away. Society has let this go on for too long. The system we have now is not working. It is time to change it today before any more precious children become victims! Close
I can write and talk, so I write and talk. / Mom Of The Year !. Child Abuser, According To CPS Read >>
I can write and talk, so I write and talk. / Mom Of The Year !. Child Abuser, According To CPS When my ex-husband left me with eleven children, the youngest only a year old, I took a deep breath and applied to graduate school thinking the best thing to do would be to get a degree to be able to teach college, as that would allow me to better schedule my own hours to be with the children. I got a five year fellowship and plunged in. It wasn't easy. Another student who was also a single mom told me that in this state the so-called Department of Human Services was truly evil and that I should beware of them. Naive as I was, I presented myself to them, asking what services they had, as I could use help finding good daycare. I thought this pre-emption, presenting myself before any questions could arise, would solve the problem. I was utterly wrong. A supervisor at CPS told me that she "considered it child abuse even to have HAD the number of children I had, and that therefore she was going to make this a "founded" case." Three further charges were brought, with the note that I was a "habitual" child abuser, building on my first crime of having given birth to these children. It has been Y E A R S of attack after attack, false reports of child abuse, many of which they have made "founded." The system under which "child protection" services operate is utterly alien to American jurisprudence. Anonymous reporters-- who need not be sane or even know the individual involved-- are protected; evidence is not required; unqualified workers with suspect credentials and often clearly toxic agendas are empowered to break up families with impunity. It is a horror beyond anything I might have ever imagined. How could I be named "Mom of the Year" and be keynote speaker at a conference for "returning" students like myself (because the university was proud of my parenting my family alone while excelling in grad school)... and at the same time be a certified child abuser, according to CPS? Because George Orwell was not whistling Dixie when he wrote "1984." In the eyes of CPS, good parenting is a sin, intact families are a condition to be remedied by any and every sort of state arrangement, and the mention of faith (or for that matter, any display of intelligence of any sort) to CPS is the ultimate crime. At one point in this, isolated as I was and without contact with anyone else subjected to such horrors, I thought to myself: one would think they wanted to DESTROY families. (But of course no such thing could be true, correct? Wrong.) It is clear to me that the GOAL of widely organized government-funded "child protection" is in fact the destruction of families altogether and the creation of a society more like some wretched postmodern dystopia-- Blade Runner, or you name it-- is the GOAL of these evil people. I do not feel a need to explain it further-- that takes one into the territory of their own lunacy. Evil is real, and these people have organized it, are profiting from it, and mean to destroy society altogether. Child sex rings and drug trafficking are tied into this. Tell this to any "normal" person with no experience of CPS and he or she will turn away, in a variant of the time-honored move called "kill-the-messenger." In the case of those who protest CPS, the game becomes Call the Messenger Loony: one of the lowest tricks in CPS's bag is having anyone who dares stand up to them declared psychotic and ordered onto drugs. Mind control is with us indeed. I have escaped this but have seen so many people broken by it that I can understand others' rage. I can write and talk, so I write and talk. I would like to see these people pull down the entire structure of their Family Destruction Enterprise on themselves, like Samson. They are a pox on society.Close

These children cannot speak for themselves.. someone has to. / Heather C. Downs These people are sopposed to be taking care of America's children and yet children are dying in their care and we are offered no explanation and no one takes responsibility. Someone needs to be an advocate for these children, someone needs to take a stand and expose what really is happening in our Family Court System. We need someone who has connections that can examine the problem. These are America's children, and if CPS is not taking resposibilty, we as American's will, and we will fight for these children as though they are our own... some of them are our own. Children are being taken from good parents, CPS is abusing their power as they become nobody's children. They attack the good parents and care very little about the ones that actually need their help. These children cannot speak for themselves.. someone has to.Close
THEY MUST BE STOPPED! / Rebecca Durham
I had this organization take 3 months away from our family. I had never been involved with them before, so they used my ignorance of their system against me. It all culminated with a trial in which the lead investigator repeatedly lied on the stand. The judge ruled in my favor, and I was reunited with my son. But CPS wasn't done. Although a judge ruled in my favor, the lead investigator and her boss found that I was guilty of child abuse and it is now on my record- for TEN YEARS. I am not able to get it off. And we were sued for all the expenses that social services incurred while providing care for my son. THEY MUST BE STOPPED! This can not happen to another innocent family! - Close
